neocarbon

NeoCarbon is a tech startup that seeks to reverse climate change by dramatically cutting costs of Direct Air Capture (DAC) leveraging cooling towers around Europe. NeoCarbon is capable of performing DAC at up to 10x lower costs and time, which makes its device mass-market ready.

Our team is working on devising a fundraising strategy for NeoCarbon: more specifically evaluating different types of grants that NeoCarbon can apply to and which of these would benefit the company the most.


Mexico Pragmatico

Mexico Pragmatico is a tech startup that seeks to solve the issue of disinformation in Mexico by providing fact-checking and data-driven journalism in a way that appeals today’s generations who consume most of their news through social media.

Our team is devising a recruitment strategy to attract talented Latin American students to join the team, despite the company’s youth and emerging brand awareness.


MOT GLOBAL

MOT is an international organisation that started in Norway and expanded across four continents, implements educational programmes to increase youth robustness to increase inclusion and fight bullying and substance abuse.

Our team is working on a digital and in person fundraising strategy, identifying the target audience as well as the right communication strategy to allow MOT increase its visibility among funds and donors.


EL CAMí DE LA SOLIDARITAT

El Camí was founded as a non-profit NGO in 2013 in Spain. They empower NGOs and other social projects to maximise their impact and multiply the positive effects of collaboration to radically innovate the philanthropic sector and change the paradigm of NGOs and non-profit organisations. They have been expanding for the past 9 years, received multiple grants and now want to become an NGO accelerator reference worldwide.

Our team is working on conducting a comprehensive industry analysis on NGOs and their systemic problems. We will give recommendations on how to solve the systemic problems holistically and map accelerators for NGOs worldwide.

CJLF is a Kenyan organisation that aims to advance economic transformation and sustainable development in Kenya, and ultimately in Africa more broadly, through the use of science, technology, and innovation. They work to help underserved, underemployed youth and women who are interested in learning ICT skills to improve their economic situation and contribute to community development.

Our team is working on a a funding strategy to help CJLF fund the Calestous Juma Innovation and Skills Center and will help with CJLF´s pilot programs for 18 months.

HI is a non-profit founded in 1982 and which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for its rehabilitation and demining efforts specifically and is currently operating out of 59 countries worldwide. They Improve living conditions of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups affected by crisis around the world.

Our team is working on an analysis of OECD country policies related to the open employment of persons with disabilities and a budget analysis to estimate the cost per individual.

Forte

Forte is the first venture of a new branch at 180DC Global in the 180 Degrees Ventures portfolio! It’s a brand new way to finance education and healthcare to disadvantaged populations at no cost to either individuals or governments, and without relying on philanthropy. Headed by our founder Dr. Nat Ware, who developed the mechanism during his post-doctoral studies at Oxford University, Forte already has the backing of several governments and was recently selected by Forbes as the world's best education startup

Our team has worked on adapting the model in Italy and developing an implementation strategy in order to finance reskilling and target the devastating effects Covid-19 has had on the country.

Buy Food With Plastic is a social startup that aims at providing food security to under-served areas in Nicaragua, as plastic items collected by locals are used as "currency" to get free meals. Two-in-one social impact! The team’s main tasks were to define and pursue partnerships to establish a solid network, and increase long term revenue streams.

What makes it even more special, is its niche focus on technology education in the African emerging economies market! The team of our 180DC Milan Consultants has worked to identify instruments and methods to reach long run financial sustainability while increasing value proposition.


local green

A social start-up aimed at producing more & better quality food with less - through sustainable production with a very short supply chain to limit the environmental impact. How? It grows lettuce by vertical farming (in an artificially controlled environment) to boost the yield of crops all year round despite the changing climate! One of our teams has worked to perform an analysis of the market and the competition, and evaluate the success of entry using new distribution channels, all under the supervision of their Team Leader - Alex D.


Skilllab

It is a social start-up aiming at empowering refugees by integrating them into the European labour market with tech-based solutions. Its mobile app uses algorithms to perform skills assessments on refugees with undocumented past experience, and matches them with available occupations!

Sirius

It is a B2B online platform that wants to encourage the development of projects with a high social impact. It facilitates research and communication between third sector entities and private companies, supports associations in realizing their projects and enables the creation of easy and immediate quantitative and qualitative reporting.

Our team, led by Team Leader Apolline, has worked on improving alliances and partnerships for Sirius. They have assisted organizations to develop external relationships with other organizations in order to better realize the organization’s social agenda, and assess the best forms of relationship that should be pursued given its aims and readiness for partnering, and evaluate the potential gains.


Leo

A start-up, private driver initiative committed to improving REM sleep to regenerate the nervous system for daily life, and thus promote vitality, creativity and concentration, with a focus on Generation Z who are most exposed to the negative effects of technology and media affecting their sleeping habits

A team of our 180 DC Milan Consultants was responsible for coming up with a marketing and fundraising strategy to target the Italian market for sleeping apps, expand its key stakeholder base and develop a sustainable long term industry strategy.


React4life

React4life is an innovative startup working in the biotech healthcare sector. Its mission is to drive research on health issues forward by creating more effective testing devices, replacing animal testing.

React4life approached 180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi on the eve of the launch of its new product to improve a series of organizational and strategic aspects before its market entry.180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi developed a branding and a marketing strategy based on the art of storytelling. Additionally, our team recommended a diversification of their marketing channels. We then identified external parties to effectively implement our strategy. In order to improve the company’s appeal for investment, we computed the revenue forecast estimates through a detailed market analysis, accounting for the expected diffusion of the new technology. We incorporated all insights in a revised business plan.

Our work exceeded the expectations of React4life’s CEO, who has proposed to 180 Degrees Consulting to work on another project together.


cblab policy mechanics

Founded by major professionals in the economic and political research field, CBLab Policy Mechanics aims at improving community life in disadvantaged areas by delivering data-driven policy recommendations to key decision makers.

CBLab approached 180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi because of their challenges in conducting data extraction and analysis on a local territory. 180 Degrees provided a set of fiscal and policy recommendations to the Milan City Council concerning a major restructuring project in a populated city area. We consolidated fiscal and managerial insights gained from several local economies in a single operational portfolio, backed by feasibility and financial analysis.

As a result of our recommendations, about 200,000 people in the suburbs of Milan will enjoy a newly renovated economic and social community area.


Red cross - centro di educazione motoria

The Red Cross is the largest humanitarian organization in the world. It started out of the need for quick deployment of aid in wars and calamities, but its scope has enlarged to provide assistance to everyone in need today.

The Committee of the Red Cross approached 180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi regarding its CEM center, which offers neuropsychiatric treatments to patients with severe disabilities. CEM was undergoing a complex period, entailing privatization and financial realignment after years of losses.

180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi was tasked with developing financial and strategic recommendations to enhance the center’s efficiency. We performed an in-depth analysis of the organisation’s economic, financial and health performance; a competitor analysis of similar centers in Italy and Lazio; and benchmarking from similar centers in France, the UK, and Germany. These three macro-components were grouped in a data-driven long-term strategic reform plan.

The project was supervised by an external advisor at a major consulting firm, who provided invaluable insights for this complex project. Red Cross is now implementing our recommended strategy.
